Update on Baby Girl Nelson

We have 5 weeks to go.....and our little bundle of Joy will be here. Randy, the kids and I went to the doctor last Thursday. Everything is ok. This was the first time the kids had gone with us. They got to see the baby on the ultrasound screen in 3D. We go back to the doctor on 18 May and will then only have 3 weeks. We still do not have a name picked out, but are trying to come up with something. We have gone with a farm girl theme and think we are pretty much ready....Will keep all posted...

They had a real cute Christmas program. Hope to post picture of the actual program as soon as I get them downloaded. All the kids did GREAT!

Auston's FIRST Deer!!

Look how proud he is.....Auston hunted diligently trying to bag his first deer. He and his Papa Brent went over in the field and came back shortly with this beauty. Who says size matters....In Auston's eyes this could have been a 20 pointer. He was so excited...

Baby Names!!!!!!!!!!

We are open to all suggestions for baby names. If you have a suggestion, please forward. I joke that if Randy and I can't agree on an OB doctor we will never agree on a name. Our child will probably be 2 months old and still not have a name.

Randy likes Jett and Ruger. I thought he was joking when he said Ruger, but I think he was serious. I am pushing for Dean, because that is Randy's middle name and he is named after his uncle. Lee is Howard's middle name. I have always liked the name Shane.

Of course Maddie and Auston want to pick the name. Madeline has a list of baby names that starts with the letter M and Auston insists the name is going to be Carter. The baby is due on 9 June 08, my mom's birthday. She has clearly stated that if the baby really is born on the 9th it has to be named after her. She said she doesn't know how, but I will have to figure out a way to fit Patti or Merle in there someway.

So send us all your suggestions, and hopefully we can all agree on one name.

Update on Baby Nelson

Randy and I went for our first OB appointment on 31 Oct 08. I was 8 weeks 3 days. They did an ultrasound. Everything looked good. The heart rate was 162. We have pictures, but when I scan them, they tend to scan dark. Don't think they will show up on the blog.

Against the will of my husband (sorry baby!) I am going to the OB doctor I had in Tulsa. I really liked the care I received from Dr. Nilson and his staff when I had Auston. I know that it has been 9 years ago, but I can only think that they must be better now then they were then. I know Randy would prefer I go to Ada or Durant, but I really have strong feelings about going back to Tulsa. I think I am going to have to follow my gut instincts on this one.

My next appt. is 5 Dec 08. I should be 13 weeks and 3 days. Hopefully these ultrasound pics will be better so I can share them.

We are excited about our little one and can't wait till he gets here. I am not allowed to even suggest that it may be a she (Randy really wants a boy), but I tell him it doesn't matter what it is, because the love you feel for your child is like no other kind of love.

My Little Boy

My baby turned 9 Sunday the 19th. He is getting so BIG!!! This Friday he plans on having some friends over to celebrate the special occassion....Margaret was nice enough to make him a cake with Army vehicles on it. He is so excited. His sleepover should be WILD! to say the least. Will have to take pictures. My babies are growing up way to fast....

Ten - Ten

For those of you who don't know....Randy and I got married 10-10-08. We went to Ft. Smith to a quaint little manor that had a very pretty back garden. We got married outside under the Gumball Tree. Here are a few pics of our special day....

On the 12th we invited Randy's mom and dad over to my parents home for dinner. We cooked steak and shrimp with all the fixin's. As we sat down to dinner, with the help of the kids, we told everyone that we had gotten married! We had an elaborate plan for telling them our even BIGGER Surprise....that we are having a baby, but the kids got carried away and told all..... WE ARE SO EXCITED...

Catchin' Up....

I have been out of the blogging world for a month or so. Trying to catch up.

First I need to wish a Happy Birthday to someone really special....Oct. 6th was my Grandmother's birthday. She is such a special lady in my life. I don't get to spend near the time with her that I should or would like to, but I do love her dearly. I live in her old house now. She and my parents built a house together and live just up the hill from me. My house is filled with so many memories. When I cook in my kitchen I am filled with memories of my grandma teaching me how to make pumpkin pie, crack eggs, bake cakes, cut up a chicken. She taught me so many things. To this day, I still have to call her and my mom and ask "How do you make this?" "What goes in the recipe?" I don't know what I would do without them.

Nana Couch and Randi Jo

Oct. 6th is also special because it is Jamie and Roy's Anniversary. I would like to wish them a Happy Belated 8th Anniversary. Love you guys....

Sunday...

Sunday started out as a normal day. We woke up and started fixing breakfast. Randy made gravy and fried the bacon while I attempted to make homemade biscuits and hashbrowns. Maddie, Auston and Tyler sat the table. We enjoy eating breakfast together on the weekends.

We did a few things around the house then Randy headed off to help his dad build fence. I took Auston to Grandma's, Madeline to meet Gayle (ex mother-in-law), I headed to work for a while.

Around 4, headed home from work. Randy called and said that his dad had gone to the emergency room at Coalgate, he wasn't feeling well. Met Randy and Margaret at the hospital to see how Howard was doing. At first, all tests were normal with the exception of some raised enzymes. The Dr. felt confident that there was not a problem with Howard's heart. He did ask Howard to stay overnight for observation. Howard agreed. We all felt relieved at the news and went on with business as usual. Margaret had Mrs. C stayed at the hospital for a while. Randy and I went out to Olney to finish feeding calves, moving some equipment, and gathering up some clothes for Howard. On our way back through town, we stopped and checked in at the Hospital. Everything seemed just fine. We headed home (Kiowa home). Randy called Becky and told her that Howard was in the hospital, the doctors really did not see an immediate risk, and as far as he knew everything was going to be ok. About midnight, mom was beating on the window trying to wake us up. Margaret had called and they were flying Howard to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. He had suffered a heart attack......With emotions soaring, Randy headed up to OKC to be with his dad and mom. Margaret called Becky and explained the situation. Monday at noon Howard underwent surgery and had two stents placed in one of his arteries. The doctors say he is doing well and was lucky that there was only mild damage from the heart attack. Please keep Howard, Margaret, Becky and Randy in your prayers.

It is moments like these that make us step back and realize how precious life is. In the blink of an eye our lives can be forever changed. We realize the mundane things that we sometimes think are so important, really aren't important at all. God is GREAT!

I received an email from my dear friend Britton this morning. I always look forward to her uplifting emails. Her words touched my heart. She had this to say today, "God is in control." "I am so glad he gave me another day to grow old and do his will." There is nothing He can't do! I have to give it all to Him today! I know I have His work to do. God needs us to listen to His call, and not the negative "junk" the devil throws at us. Good has to come from bad situations. Good has to win EVERY time!

How these words rang so true to me today. I know that Good will come from this situation that God has given us.

AUSTON & TYLER'S 1ST FOOTBALL GAME!!!!

OH, HOW EXCITING! Auston and Tyler had their first FOOTBALL Game Saturday. It was a beautiful day for it. Just when you think you can't top basketball or Rodeo, here comes FOOTBALL. Seeing my little boy and nephew in their football uniforms, being all tough and grown up. It was AWESOME. They both played great. There is just something about being at a football game. The smell of the popcorn, the field, the fans cheering, the excitement in the air, knowing that cool weather will be here soon, wrapping up in a blanket, drinking hot chocolate, I just can't wait.

Chuckwagon Races

We really had a good time at the Chuck Wagon races. It was very interesting. If you ever get a chance, it is worth checking out. However, I failed miserably when it came to taking pictures. Don't believe I got my camera out once. The days seemed to fly by. Hope to get some copies of the pictures my mom took and share them with all.

The scenery was beautiful and we enjoyed riding our horses in the mountains and the creeks. Our horses had never seen a wagon before. It was so funny. They would stop and look....it was if they were thinking PLEASE DON"T LET THEM HOOK ONE OF THOSE THINGS TO OUR BACK. It was quite comical.

MOM is determined to get her a wagon and participate in the Landrun race next year. She is already trying to talk Randy into building her a wagon. She is going to be the driver, Bambi the cook, and Wendy the outrider. I don't know about those girls, but the three of them racing is something I would definitely have to see.

Get Along Lil' Doggies

This weekend we are packing up and heading to Clinton, Arkansas for the National Chuck Wagon Races....This sounds like so much fun. Mom and Dad left out this morning. Bambi, myself, our four kids and three horses are heading out tomorrow evening. Randy and Ted are planning on driving down Friday night if all goes well with the hay (keep your fingers crossed). Randy's friends Bill and Jeanna are going Thursday along with her dad. We are really looking forward to this trip.

They not only have Chuck Wagon races, they have a snowy river race(pictured below), bronc fanning, trail rides, barrel racing, a ranch rodeo, dances, concerts, horsemanship clinics and many other activities. They say the vendors at the races are unbelievable. I can't wait to experience the Chuck Wagon races for the first time.

By the end of the weekend, we may be a little saddle sore, but I think we will have a really good time.

SO THANKFUL!!!

For the last week I have felt so thankful for family and friends. I feel like God has blessed me with wonderful people in my life and at times I take that blessing for granted.
I don't feel I have ever been one to get wrapped up in material things; however, the reality is I have not always appreciated the humble blessings God has bestowed upon me. Finally, my eyes are open and I realize that there are so many less fortunate people.

I am thankful for my kids, my family, shelter, my job, food on the table, a car that runs and has gas in the tank, and a little change in my pocket.

I just want all those special people in my life to know how much I appreciate them. Thanks for everything.
It seems that so often, we get wrapped up in the fast pace of life and forget to appreciate the little things.

Alive and Kickn'

Jackson was fun. Maddie didn't qualify for the finals this year, but she did well. Kylee, one of our friends did qualify. Congratulations Kylee you did GREAT!!!

In the picture above, the NBHA photographer snapped Maddie and Cheyenne getting ready for the Frisbee toss. Every contestant gets a chance to toss a Frisbee on top of a barrel to win money. However, all 1100 youth contestants toss their Frisbee at the same time.

Every year they hold a spirit parade. Each state chooses a theme and marches into the arena throwing anything and everything into the stands. Oklahoma's theme was Turn and Burn Like an Oklahoma Twister. We wore red shirts with the Okie logo on it. This photo has Jamie, Auston, Maddie, Randy, and myself in it. This photo was taken by the NBHA photographer. For the second year in a row Florida won the spirit parade. This year they had a Disney World theme. Each contestant was dressed in a different Disney character outfit. it was cute.

Roy and Randi Jo Marching in the Parade!

The Oklahoma twister a man made by turning a Christmas Tree upside down. Tyler is in this picture to the left with the black hat on. Maddie is next to him.

I have more pictures I would love to share, but don't have them downloaded yet. Hope to get them posted soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY!

Just want to wish one of my best friends a very HAPPY Birthday! I hope you have a great day. Thanks for always being there for me, you have really helped me through this year. Your such a good friend. We Love You!

Good Times.....

We really had a good time at Roaring River over the 4th. I enjoyed driving down with my lil' sis and reminiscing about all the great trips to Roaring River we had taken with our parents and grandparents. I hope my kids have as many wonderful childhood memories from there as I do. The campfires, roasting hot dogs, my grandpa frying squash, onions and potatoes and smelling up the whole campground. I could almost smell the aroma of his sweet concoction as I sat at my campsite. We all miss grandpa so much....it was nice to recollect so many fond memories this weekend. It was almost like he was there with us.
